Speaking on the new development, The “Sing Hallelujah” crooner said he has always believed in a better Nigeria.

“I believe in Nigeria. God bless Nigeria. Revival is here. Transformation is here #ENDSARSNOW”

The #EndSARS movement started on Twitter around 2017, calling for the banning of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigerian Police Force. It is a call to end police oppression and brutality in Nigeria. In October of 2020, the movement spiraled from just being an online hashtag into a physical protest to once and for all call on the government to scrap the unit of the police.

The protest has gone global with celebrities and personalities from all across the globe lending their voice to the movement. The movement has also seen the dissolution of the unit which the government intends to redeploy to other arms of the Nigerian police force. Protesters are however against the move.

Speaking on the move by the federal government and IG of police to set up a new anti robbery squad called the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) to replace the defunct SARS, Sammie Okposo using the acronym said; “SWAT is SARS With Another Title.”

Add to the call that the department be completely dissolved, protesters are also calling for the reform of the Nigerian police force as a whole.
