MUST READ!!!: IS JESUS CHRIST GOD? [Part 1]

IS JESUS CHRIST GOD?

‘How is Jesus Christ God?’ ‘What’s the explanation behind the trinity?’

These are common questions in the hearts of believers. However, only few have summoned courage to ask questions. I have asked too in the past. If I must be candid, I’d say I never got a satisfactory answer.

“It’s a mystery oh”… “Hmmm you know this our God we can’t know all of him”… ” When we get to heaven we will ask God”… “God is mysterious. Somethings are beyond our understanding,” etc, are usually some of the remarks in response to such questions.

Is the doctrine of the trinity a mystery (according to the Bible)? Is a biblical mystery impossible to understand? Does the bible support the trinity doctrine? If it does, does it refer to it as a mystery? How many mysteries are in the Bible? What do scriptures refer to as a mystery? These questions will be answered in this post but before that, let’s pay a brief visit to a scripture you have seen before.

Mark 13:32
“No one knows when that day or hour will come—not the angels in heaven, not the Son, but only the Father.

Jesus made this statement himself. I hear some folks are ludicrous enough to discredit whatever is in scriptures but wasn’t said by Jesus. Well, this one was said by Jesus himself.

Jesus, throughout the chapter (Mark 13) discussed the signs of the end times and then he made this statement. He said HE (Jesus) DIDN’T KNOW when he will have to return again. He said ONLY THE FATHER (God) knew. Does this sound like 1 person or two different people? Keep the answer.

Back to mysteries.

Contrary to what you might have been hearing, a biblical mystery isn’t something that can’t be known/understood. A mystery is something that is YET TO BE KNOWN by many. It isn’t impossible to know. It’s something concealed for a time and then revealed later on.

God’s salvation plan is the only mystery in the Bible. It was hidden from the men of the old covenant (thus making it a mystery). It was revealed after the resurrection of Jesus Christ (thus unraveling the mystery). Paul explained this in his letter to the Roman church.

Romans 16:25
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

It WAS kept secret. It IS revealed now.

Verse 26.
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

He taught the Ephesian church the same:

Ephesians 3:2-4.
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

There was a change of dispensation which led to the unraveling of the only mystery of God, which is Christ as God’s salvation plan.

Paul wrote to them in order to make them understand more what he knew.

The mystery wasn’t known previously. A new dispensation of Grace changed everything.

Ephesians 3:5-6
5  Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
6 That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

Verse 6 above buttresses what biblical mystery is (which has now been revealed). Jesus Christ died and resurrected with forgiveness for the whole world; Every single sinner inclusive. This ‘crazy’ salvation plan, to be received just by faith was the mystery which is revealed now, the only mystery of the Bible. Even heavenly beings are still looking into this thing to understand better.

Ephesians 3:9-11.
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by (through) Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

Paul wasn’t alone. The writings of Peter were in congruence.

1 Peter 1:10-12
10  Even the prophets, who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours, carefully researched and investigated this salvation.
11  THEY TRIED TO FIND OUT what era or specific time the Spirit of the Messiah in them kept referring to when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow.
12  It was revealed to them that THEY WERE NOT SERVING themselves, but you in regard to the things that have now been announced to you by those who brought you the good news through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. These are things that EVEN THE ANGELS DESIRE TO LOOK INTO.

The gospel is the only mystery of the scriptures and it has clearly been revealed.

Ephesians 6:19-20.
19  And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20  For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

This is clear enough. Give no one room to beguile you with remarks like “this is a mystery you can’t understand it.” Do not be lured into believing man made teachings.

The trinity doctrine, just like every other, is either false or true. If it’s true, it must be very clear and understandable. It’s not a mystery of the bible.

The first part of this series ends here. Sit tight; much more awaits you. See you in part 2.

Don’t forget to read Mark 13:32 again.

Light shines.
