IS JESUS CHRIST GOD

READ PART 19 HERE

IS JESUS CHRIST GOD: Unknown to many Christians, the idea of a trinity predates Christianity by a very wide margin. Most Christians have been beguiled into thinking the belief in a trinity stems from Christianity. They assume wrongly that the idea of a God who is three (3) persons in one being originates from Christianity. However, it isn’t so.

The idea of God being many in one (especially a triad) is an old ideology in the hearts of men. Thousands of years before Christ, myriad pagan religions held such beliefs.

The belief in a trinity was held and propagated by the Babylonians and their religion(s) long before the first coming of Christ and Christianity. The Babylonians believed in the worship of the Planet ‘Venus.’ They worshipped Venus, the moon and the sun as a three in one god. This Babylonian trinity was established and worshipped in about fourteen centuries before Christ and an equilateral triangle was used to symbolise it (the same triangle used today by some Christians to explain the trinity, although with few modifications).

The Greeks too worshipped Zeus, Athena and Apollo as a trinity, long before Christ. The Romans too believed in a trinity which consisted of Jupiter, Mercury and Venus. All of these are ancient pagan religions that predates Christianity. Egyptians, Romans, Babylonians, Greeks, Japanese, Indians, etc can all attest to the reality of cultures and religions of theirs that believe in one trinity or the other.

A possible rationale behind such belief being common in ancient religions is the belief of many in the specialty of “three” (3) as a number. Many ancient religions perceived three (3) to be a mysterious and highly significant or symbolic number. To some, it symbolized childhood, adulthood and old age (the major stages of life). To some, it signified birth, life and death. To others, it meant both. To some also, it meant much more. Three (3), in the ancient world and to many today, was/is a number more important than others. These were all pagan paradigms.

In fact, history proves that ancient religions in almost all nations of the world believed in a trinity or had a similar belief.

How then can such be a major doctrine or belief in today’s church (when it doesn’t even appear in the Bible)?

The scriptures tell us what we should believe about Jesus.

John 20:31
But these have been recorded so that you may believe that JESUS IS THE MESSIAH, the SON OF GOD, and so that through believing you may have life in his name.

Matthew 16:16-17
And Simon Peter answered and said, THOU ART THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

The writers of the Bible and the early believers never believed in or taught God to be three persons in one being. There’s one Spirit. One Lord (The Son of God and the saviour, Jesus). One God, the father. God is one, not three persons in one.

1 Corinthians 8:6
But to us there is but ONE GOD, THE FATHER, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by [through] whom are all things, and we by [through] him.

Ephesians 4:4-6
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
ONE GOD AND FATHER OF ALL, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

The Bible is clear on this matter. Brethren who teach the trinity are only guilty of either misinterpreting scriptures or clinging to wrongly translated scriptures (as said repeatedly on this series, the Bible wasn’t written in English).

Holding unto such scriptures, they boldly negate clear scriptures showing that Jesus isn’t God by refusing to accept this and the biblical truth that Jesus is an exalted man; God’s Son who has now been exalted and given all power and authority. One of such clear scriptures that unarguably reveals that Jesus isn’t God and God is superior is found in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 15:27-28
for “God has put everything under his feet.” Now when he says, “Everything has been put under him,” this clearly excludes the one [God] who put everything under him [Jesus].
But when everything has been put under him, then the Son himself will also become subject to the one who put everything under him [God], so that God may be all in all.

Here, the Bible says Jesus will be made subject to God. Trinity believers and teachers say that God is three in one (God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) and that these three persons who are one being are coequal.

If they are coequal or if they are the same person/being, why then would Jesus be subject to God in the coming age?

Studying with an open mind is almost enough for anyone to understand this matter.

Think about these things.

Light shines.
