IS JESUS CHRIST GOD
IS JESUS CHRIST GOD: With more than enough scriptural evidence(s), we know for sure that Jesus Christ is our saviour.
Titus 1:4
To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
2 Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Nonetheless, scriptures also refer to God as our saviour.
1 Timothy 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
Jude 1:25
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
As a result, some believe and teach that since they are both referred to as our Saviour, Jesus must be God and God must be Jesus. However, such can’t be the case from scriptures.
God alone planned out our salvation. He alone mapped out the plan. This is why God is our saviour. He made a plan for us, to redeem us from Sin and condemnation by transferring us to his own kingdom. On the other hand, Jesus was the one through whom the plan was carried out. Jesus Christ his son executed the father’s salvation plan. This makes him the Saviour too. Paul communicated this in his letter to the Corinthian church.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (KJV)
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
That is, God, through Jesus Christ the Messiah was reconciling the world back to himself! Let’s consider the scripture in another translation.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (ISV)
All of this comes from God, who has reconciled us to himself through the Messiah and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
for through the Messiah, God was reconciling the world to himself by not counting their sins against them. He has committed his message of reconciliation to us.
The above scripture makes it clear why both Jesus Christ and God, his father can be referred to as ‘Saviour.’ God mapped out the plan. Jesus executed it (the will of his father).
A similar scenario to this is in the case of a government of a country, its military, and masses facing terrorist attacks within the country. The government, if responsible, would protect its masses by sending its military to intervene by either killing or warding off the terrorists.
In such cases, the masses can claim to have been saved by the government. They can also claim to have been saved by the military of their country. It doesn’t mean the military is the government or the government is the military. It only means that one came up with a decision or plan and the other executed it.
Jesus came to implement God’s plan.
John 9:4
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 8:29
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
John 4:34
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
We know for sure that God, as the planner of man’s redemption, sent Jesus to execute it.
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
God (the planner) saved us through his Son, Jesus the Messiah (the executioner).
At this juncture, this part comes to an end. This series will be coming to its end soon. Thanks for your relentless efforts invested in following up.
