With controversies over Immoral content on TV, "GMA Reality TV Show" kicks off soon - Airing on DSTV

As a suitable replacement for the numerous television reality shows out there promoting all forms of immorality and wantonness, Gospel Music Africa (GMA) is about to stun the entertainment world as they prepare to kick off their own reality TV show this month in Nigeria.

The winner of the competition which has been scheduled to start from the 20th October through to the 1st of December 2019, would be going home with the sum of $10,000, a tour of Africa, Europe, and America, and a recording deal.

In a recent publication on their official website, they (GMA) explained the motivation behind their venture: “In today’s world, there is a quest among most young Christians to explore their talents and be identified as celebrities; but due to the non-availability of a gospel music platform in Africa for self-discovery, young Christians have become susceptible to the clarion call of alcoholic, sacrilegious, and lewd sexuality driven reality TV shows which leads to lots of social irresponsibility among young people in Nigeria, and Africa at Large.”

“It is for these reasons and many more that the Gospel Music Africa (GMA) reality TV competition was birthed,” they added.

In an official document written by Matthew Obono, the Director of the project, he also said: “GMA presents a unique contemporary innovation that seeks to discourage the rising migration of young Gospel singers from Gospel to Secular music, while promoting a lifestyle of worship, love, hope, as well as touching lives and lifting God’s name. GMA provides a platform for young gospel artistes across Africa to serve as role models for the aspiring generations.

“Although the focus is on inspiring and nurturing talents so as to discover the next big voice in African Gospel Music, Contestants will also educate, inspire and entertain viewers through intellectual tasks, games and other activities aimed at providing solutions to real problems in Africa.”

According to him, the reality TV competition will be broadcasted across Africa and beyond on GMAETV Online, and Faith TV Networks on DSTV Channel 341, GOTV, Faith UK (Sky 594), Flow Africa (Kwese 825), and on all platforms belonging to Faith TV network, online and free to air.

He also revealed that the GMA Reality TV competition will lure 30 contestants from across 17 African countries to Nigeria, for six (6) weeks of housing, as they compete to grab the winner’s prize for the show.

Gospel Music Africa Reality TV competition is the very first of its kind and is the biggest music reality show on the African continent.
