IS JESUS CHRIST GOD
The scriptures are emphatic and clear about how God’s logos (Jesus Christ) was made to manifest. No scripture say he was both God and man at the same time. The ‘very God, very man’ philosophy or the ‘fully man, fully God’ theory are all teachings fabricated by men. The Bible teaches Jesus to have been made manifest as one thing alone!
1 John 4:2
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
The Bible teaches that Jesus came as flesh (as a human). God expects us to teach the same. This matter is so serious that the Bible says it’s a parameter for knowing a Spirit which is from God. The scripture doesn’t talk of Jesus who is God coming as man. It only says God’s word/logos (Jesus Christ, who is his plan/thought for all creation) came as a man.
See verse 3 of the same book and chapter:
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
So, from scriptures, we realize that teaching that Jesus is God doesn’t confirm you to be a servant of God. Teaching that Jesus came as flesh is what confirms that you are one speaking the mind of God. The word ‘flesh’ in these scriptures is the Greek word ‘Sarx,’ which means flesh or body or a human being.
So, the emphasis of our teaching must be the humanity of Jesus Christ. See it in the ISV translation:
1 John 4:2
This is how you can recognize God’s Spirit: Every spirit who acknowledges that Jesus the Messiah has become human—and remains so—is from God.
See 2nd John also:
2 John 1:7
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
ISV translation:
For many deceivers have gone out into the world. They refuse to acknowledge Jesus the Messiah as having become human. Any such person is a deceiver and an antichrist.
The scriptures are too emphatic on what should be taught about Jesus Christ. Whoever refuses to emphasize on his humanity is a deceiver! The one who emphasises on his humanity speaks the mind of God. Jesus Christ isn’t God and man or God who came as flesh (this is unscriptural. it makes him appear to be both the almighty God and man at the same time. The implication of such teaching is that it automatically disqualifies him as an absolute human).
So, why are the scriptures highly emphatic on the humanity of Jesus Christ?
Why does the Bible say Jesus was human in every way, and not God and man at the same time (Hebrews 2:14-18)?
Why is it deceptive to teach otherwise?
Simple! Teaching that Jesus is God directly implies that he’s not human only and that directly distorts the resurrection reality, which is the core of the gospel.
This is how:
Acts 17:31
For he (God) has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him (Jesus) from the dead.”
The above scripture says Jesus was appointed by God (clearly describing two people, with one superior). It also calls Jesus a man. Finally, it says that the resurrection of this man, Jesus Christ, is God’s proof to humanity that they too will be raised after they die, and not left in the dust of the earth forever.
If Jesus is God, then the resurrection of Jesus is an unworthy and invalid proof. God can only prove to humanity that they can be raised after they die by using another human. God can’t use himself to prove that. If Jesus is God who died and was raised, there becomes nothing special about the resurrection.
What’s special about God being raised from the dead? It should be a normal news by virtue of his limitless power. That can’t stand as proof to humans who aren’t God at the same time that they too will resurrect. The resurrection therefore becomes a scam.

Fortunately, God didn’t come by himself as a man to die. He sent a man like us; his Son Jesus the appointed messiah, to die. It was this same man he raised as an assurance of the resurrection for us. Only man can be the proof of resurrection. Just like the one who brought death (Adam) wasn’t God and man at the same time, the one who brings the resurrection (Jesus) must also be a man, and not God and man.
1 Corinthians 15:21-22
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also came through a man.
For as in Adam all die, so also in the Messiah will all be made alive.
If Jesus is God, show us one scripture that says Jesus is both God and man and/or one that asks us to believe such.
If Jesus is God, also tell us how his resurrection assures mere mortal men of theirs.
Until then, have a fruitful day.
Light shines.
